Experience this great and exiting tour to Maropeng. Maropeng means “returning to the place of origin” in Setswana, one of the main indigenous languages in South Africa. The Cradle of Humankind, just a 40-minute drive from Johannesburg, is one of eight South African World Heritage Sites. It is the world’s richest hominine site, home to around 40% of the world’s human ancestor fossils. It is also home to a diversity of birds, animals and plants, some of which are rare or endangered.
The area is also home to the Sterkfontein Caves owned by the University of the Witwatersrand, whose scientists have been responsible for the main excavations of the World Heritage Site. They are credited with many of the famous discoveries including the world famous “Mrs Ples” and “Little Foot”, an almost complete Australopithecusskeleton dating back more than 3-million years. The Sterkfontein Caves tour, start on ground level and  take visitors deep into the caves, and run every half hour, seven days a week.

The Lion Park is situated near Lanseria Airport and Four ways, within easy reach from Johannesburg and Pretoria with an estimated distance of 45km from both cities. The Lion Park is home to over 80 lions including the rare white lions and many other carnivores such as cheetah, wild dog, brown hyena, striped hyena, spotted hyena, black-backed jackal, side-striped jackal, and a wide variety of antelope which roam freely in the antelope area.

Interact with some of the animals in the ‘Cub World’ area which has a giraffe feeding platform that puts you at eye level with our tame resident giraffe creating a fun experience for all ages. The cub interaction area allows guests to touch the world’s greatest predators and take photographs.

The exhibits have been assembled and organized by a multi-disciplinary team of curators, filmmakers, historians and designers.
